OUR WORK: SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

The gap

Health programs fail for social reasons at least as often as technical ones. A campaign arrives and nobody comes, because the message travelled through a channel the community does not trust. A referral is issued and never acted on, because the household cannot absorb the cost. A prevention message is accurate and ignored, because it contradicts something a respected local figure has said.

None of these are solved with better clinical protocols.

Youth-led digital mobilization

Young leaders run our WhatsApp groups and health awareness content on TikTok, carrying prevention messages in the formats and languages their peers actually use. The content is theirs. We provide training, accuracy review and support.

This matters because young people in our communities are online long before they are in a clinic, and they will believe a peer before they believe a poster.

Multisectoral advocacy with traditional leaders

We co-build community charters with customary and religious leaders to remove socio-cultural barriers to prevention and to screening in particular. The charters are drafted together, not presented for signature.

A commitment made publicly by the people a village already listens to changes behavior in a way that outside messaging does not.

Social protection and health coverage

We help vulnerable families enroll in community health insurance schemes so that catastrophic health spending does not force an impossible choice. This work exists because our own referral follow-up data showed us how many treatable findings went untreated for financial reasons.

A referral a family cannot afford is not a referral.
